Letter from the Owner
Having spent 16 years in human resources, I am all too familiar with the one mistake many companies make – ignoring the “human” element of HR and instead inundating valuable employees with generic documents and resources that lack any sort of personality. I started NUJOURNI to change that mindset. I want to put life back into the foundation of small businesses, and help you to create an open channel of communication with your team members.
My focus is on helping small businesses connect and engage with their employees by implementing creative and (dare I say)...exciting...HR practices. I love to write and use the power of prose to tell a story and communicate with others. I love helping colleagues to connect. And I love the synergy that is created when management and employees work together as one.
Laws and regulations are important, so your goal may just be to have human resource solutions that keep you compliant and that are easy to understand and maintain. Or, you may want to select a suite of services that suit your company and your team in a way you didn’t know was possible with a larger HR provider. Whatever you envision for your human resource needs, I created this company to help make that happen.
Based in Rochester, NY, I am also wife to an amazing man and a mother to a sweet, loving, kind, and silly boy - my greatest gift in life who teaches me how to love, be patient, and not take life too seriously. His love is a reminder not to take life for granted, because time is precious. In this busy and fast-paced world, I believe that finding balance between your passions, family, hobbies, and work is something to strive for every day. It can certainly be achieved but it takes a lot of practice and it's an ongoing journey.
Everyone's ideal balance may look different, so loving what you do and who you surround yourself with is paramount. Most employees devote a huge part of their lives to their employer; their work becomes a part of them, and the line becomes blurred with who they are professionally versus who they are personally. This isn’t problematic so long that business owners can recognize this and treat their employees like they would a member of their family; with respect and honesty. I never liked the saying, “It’s not personal; it's business.” When you deal with human beings, it's always personal. So, to the extent that I can help companies convey positive and engaging messages, and cultivate a work environment that people are excited to be a part of, I feel I’m doing business with purpose. And when that happens, everyone wins.
